A few days in

June 18th, 2007

Well, its been a few days since our invite-only beta phase started, and things have been going pretty well. We have seen significant interests from various bloggers, and some positive coverage in the mainstream media.

We have also received a vast amount of bug reports, suggestions, and other feedback from users, and we have been doing our best to address all of them as quickly as we can. Just an hour ago we deployed the latest version of the site. Among other things, this version:

  • Adds a “close” button to the tutorial boxes that appear for new users
  • Fixes a problem were stories were claiming to be older than they were
  • Fixes a bug with story times
  • Fixes a security issue in the private-beta system
  • Fixes some usability issues with how we notify users of password entry problems

We very much appreciate all feedback, and encourage users to keep it coming (use the link on the About page).

Good luck with this. Was just about to suggest you add a comments section :P

Incidentally, I think thoof has great potential. I think it has a lot it can take from digg.com (that it might not have already)

If one thing, I think Thoof would do well to stamp out some of the idiotic posts on digg.com.

Freedom of speech but some sort of ignore list would be useful. For example. If I put a user on ignore and other users agreed with my posts/stories then they also would find that user on their ignore list.

It seems draconian but it doesn’t need to be mandatory.

Thanks and tara!

Other feedback:

I’m not a fan of the “This page has expired” message.

I’d just skip it and get right back to the homepage.

My 2p.

Peace
