ThoofRank buttons for your blog
July 20th, 2007 New Features, TipsYou can now put a ThoofRank button in your blog or web page for any story you submit to Thoof. Take a look at the bottom of this story to see what it looks like.
The ThoofRank is a fair measurement of how interesting a story is to readers with interests in common with the story. It is expressed as a percentage relative to other Thoof stories, so a ThoofRank above 50% indicates that a story is of above average interest to those readers.
What about stories I’ve already submitted to Thoof?
Don’t worry, we have a simple (but not very pretty) interim solution. Find your submitted story, and click on improve. Now, go to the URL and change “improve” to “trt”, for example, http://thoof.com/improve/1234 becomes http://thoof.com/trt/1234. Hit enter so that this new URL is loaded by your browser. Then just follow the instructions in the page that loads.

Does this go in as an image or a link? I’ve had some difficulty with it this morning.
ian
Tia, this is implemented as an IFrame which links to a page that has an image background, and text in the foreground. The approach is similar to that used to embed Google AdWords.
Please let us know what difficulty you are having in more detail, and we will do what we can to help.

Ian, I don’t get this.
Change the word improve on the url to trt and then what? Which code am I supposed to copy? (Sorry not a techie!) Not sure what’s an IFrame too..
Thanks

Jewelle, sorry that this isn’t clearer. Firstly, you should *only* need to do this if your story has already been submitted to Thoof, and you didn’t cut and paste the ThoofRank code that would have been shown to you immediately after you submitted it.
If you haven’t submitted the story yet, then just submit it, and follow the instructions you see after you submit the story.
If you change “improve” to “trt” and hit enter, you will be shown a page that will give you a piece of code that you can cut and paste into your blog post, that will make a ThoofRank button appear there.
Please let me know if you have any problems.

Ian,
FYI, it would appear that wordpress.com don’t allow the use of iframes in posts which pretty much precludes the use of the button on Wordpress.com hosted blogs.

Matt, we are working on this problem, and hope to have a solution in a few days.

Sorry, but these is about as clear as MUD, I can’t find my sumbitted story, it will only show up if I go to the story on my blog and click on Thoof It, then it shows the author as being anonymous and the rank badge is another story all together.

OK, I run an older machine with windows 98, I am not able to submit my articles there for some strange reason, I work between 2 computers, the 2nd one runs windows XP on a Dell System that is only a few years old, I was able to only submit on the 2nd computer and everything went fine, should my home computer which is over 10 years old be the problem here ?
