As discussed in the previous thread… images are good but only if relevant. Will they be editable by the community? Will there be a standard “icon set” like on slashdot?
Are many people using the “send to a friend” buttons? It’s not something I’d ever use.
The subtle boundaries around the stories are nice.

There probably won’t be images initially, we are still determining whether images are desirable, but we won’t do images unless we can find a way to ensure that they are relevant.
Some people are using “send to friend”, its important as it helps people to tell their friends about Thoof, and thus helps Thoof’s traffic to grow (which benefits everyone). If you have any ideas about how to improve the “send to friend” functionality, please let us know.

For those of us with far less than perfect eyesight, I believe keeping the story in dark gray or black type would help - please don’t make it blue! The current lighter gray type used for info about the web source, who submitted and when, etc, is challenging; darker type in the ‘new look’ is helpful. I also like the subtle boundaries around the stories.
I love the ’send to friend’ function and use it often.

The look is better. The current look has more visual whitespace.
I can’t tell from the mockup whether aspects like story type, freshness, video/music/text, are communicated with visual cues.
BTW, I habitually avoid using ‘email to friend’ options on sites because I’m concerned about email address harvesting.

I think it’s a good move to have the “saved searches” bar, which could hopefully be turned off in preferences.
But I don’t want to have images, I think text alone is great and more accurate, the images would distract me and could be misleading.

I’m a bit ambivalent about the images. I agree that they need to be relevant. Perhaps this feature could be optional — Images/No images button?
Otherwise I like the look.

I really like the “Saved Searches” option! (You should be able to set one of the searches as your default homepage ;)
Also, if you provide the option of turning off images then I don’t see why anyone would be able to have a problem with them.

Ugh; the less faff around each link the better. I’ve really come to appreciate Reddit for its minimal design, the more links you can cast your eye over without distraction in a short time, the better. Fanciness just slows your browser and your brain down.
